Together with our environmental justice community-based organization partners PODER in the Mission/Excelsior of San Francisco; and YUCA, in East Palo Alto; we’ve continued our work to develop a nationally replicable model for growing community power and the leadership of youth of color to shape public planning processes. The youth are engaging their communities while putting the finishing touches on their resilience maps with the data they have collected. We’ll be working with the youth on crafting presentations for city planners and public agency staff. They will tell a story of how they’ve utilized their maps as a way to strengthen their campaigns, ground truth existing city data, and make policy recommendations for affordable housing, jobs, gentrification and displacement. Stay Tuned!
